The omni-directional blast wave created by the SHOCKSystem™ removes ash deposits that cannot be removed by conventional cleaning technologies such as sootblowers.

THE CLEANING PROCESS
The SHOCKSystem™ generates a detonation-based supersonic hemispherical pressure/blast wave that propagates in all directions within the boiler providing non-line-of-sight cleaning, unlike conventional cleaning technologies.

This omni-directional blast wave removes ash deposits that cannot be removed by conventional cleaning technologies such as sootblowers. The cleaning radius of the blast wave in an economizer is nominally in the 20' to 25' range for a single SHOCKSystem™ combustor. This range may vary depending on the coal properties and the local gas temperature. In most instances an individual combustor can replace, or reduce the use of, two to four sootblowers.

Gas Flow Improvement
Bridging and PlatenizationNo Bridging or Platenization
As shown in this graphic, bridging and platenization severely impede gas flow around boiler tubes. The blast wave produced by the SHOCKSystem™ removes bridging and platenization, allowing gas to flow freely.
