The SHOCKSystem™ demonstrated ash removal despite operating at low power and firing a low number of shots.
SHOCK STORY: ECONOMIZER DEMONSTRATION
Current Situation:
75 MW boiler
Burns a blend of Powder River Basin (PRB) and Bituminous Coal
Accumulated ash deposits and pluggage of the economizer results in frequent offline cleaning of the economizer
Severe vertical platenization exists in the lower super heater region
Pre-demonstration video survey revealed slightly fouled economizer and significant platenization in Lower Primary Superheater
Solution:
Installed SHOCKSystem™ between Lower Primary Superheater and Economizer Bundles
Utilized existing manway opening on the front wall near the west side of the boiler
Performance:
SHOCKSystem™ operated intermittently for six days
West delta temperature (DT) increased by 20°F-30°F during operation
SHOCKSystem's™ Bottom-Line Impact:
Hopper loading was significant on the side of the boiler where the device was installed
Gas temperature differential across the lower primary superheater and economizer on side where device was installed was higher by 20°F-30°F during operation
SHOCKSystem™ demonstrated ash removal despite operating at low power and firing low number of shots
West Delta Temperature Histogram
24 hour period
Histogram shows during the SHOCKSystem™ operation period West Side gas temperature differential was higher than before SHOCKSystem™ operation period.
